wTe’s Metals Division operates under the name wTe Recycling, Inc. The business became part of wTe in 1990 and is located in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The Metals Division processes both municipal and traditional ferrous and non-ferrous metals using state-of-the-art equipment and methodologies.

Our municipal business is a service business in which the company works closely with waste-to-energy facilities to remove, transport, process, and market both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. wTe has developed a proprietary processing system to upgrade and refine the recovered metals. Our finished ferrous and non-ferrous products are marketed as high-quality replacements for traditional scrap materials such as #1 HMS steel or auto shred. wTe is a leader in processing both pre-burn municipal ferrous metals and post-burn municipal ferrous metals.

In addition to the municipal niche, wTe operates a shredder, converting both automobiles and light iron into shredder grades which are sold to domestic or international steel mills. The site also hosts a traditional ferrous and non-ferrous metals recycling operation, serving both industrial and dealer clients in the region.

In 2008, the company invested in a new downstream non-ferrous sorting system and completed a major shredder repair and refurbishing project. These investments were instrumental for expansion of wTe markets and have augmented wTe’s already strong technological base.

What We Do

wTe Recycling buys virtually any kind of metal scrap (ferrous and non-ferrous) and, after processing, sells various shredded grades, #1 and #2 HMS steel, non-ferrous concentrates, twitch, heavies, and many other types of sorted, non-ferrous metals.
